Hangar One Grows in Size!

For the past four months the redevelopment of Hanger One has been a continual work in process. If you have been following our social media platforms, many of our updates have shown a flurry of behind the scenes activity thanks to the acquisition of the second phase of the former World War II aircraft hangar.

The newly developed 7500 square foot space will be home to a mix of both familiar and new exhibitors and the space has been designed to offer two vast showcase areas. With the dramatic height of a full ceiling in the central zone, and a deep gallery mezzanine running around the two side walls, this new space is truly transformative and will provide a fantastic backdrop for a stunning range of antiques and rare items.

The space in Hangar One sold out in record time, with three of our resident Lorfords dealers snapping up more than 75% of the new premises. As the largest collection of Decorative Antiques in Europe, The Hangars are becoming a well known destination for private clients, interior designers and antiques dealers across Europe and further afield. With a vast range of antiques and mid century items on display, from 43 highly regarded dealers, there is something to suit all tastes.

Hangar One is as stunningly diverse as its neighbour. Intimate settings sit alongside more conventional showrooms and prime art gallery space, making the Hangar experience at Babdown a must visit for interior designers and private clients alike. The dust-sheets, heavy machinery and paint cans have all been moved out, with the vibrant new space taking on a new lease of life through the unique antiques and decorative items that have moved in.

Who will be joining us at Hangar One?

We are excited to welcome well-known antiques dealer and expert Drew Pritchard to the Hangars. Drew’s prominent space is filled with a mix of eye-catching decorative salvage and antiques. Pieces that echo his Welsh roots and striking items like a museum cabinet and a double sided clock occupy the area, making it a must-visit for collectors of the beautifully unusual.

Resident dealer Lee Wright Antiques has taken a central 1250 square foot double ceiling height space in Hangar One, with Andy Gibbs of Blank Canvas Antiques securing the entire left hand side mezzanine area. Dean Gipson of Dean Antiques, who currently has large showrooms in both Hangar One and Two, has taken an additional large ground floor area. Watch this space for the great reveal!
