“I became a textile collector when I came across a very beautiful 18th century Suzani at the back of a cupboard. My interest since has never waned. I visited many places and befriended archeologists, writers and antique dealers who shared this passion and were keen on exploring less travelled lands.
A few years ago I acquired a West African fabric from the early 20th century, which was part of a group of textiles which were still undocumented. It gave me the desire and inspiration to start printing and engage in keeping certain patterns and their spirit alive.”
