17th Century French Portrait of Samson and Delilah

Delilah, with a powerful and determined expression, in her beautifully detailed, lace edged gown, wields the scissors that will be Samson's downfall. 

The atmospheric canvas has substantial wear consistent with age, and has three small repairs on the back. The green painted frame, with black detailing, sets off this impactful scene. The portrait came from a chateau south of Toulouse.
