18th Century Burr Walnut Bureau Bookcase

Important 18th Century burr walnut bureau bookcase from Holland, circa 1770.
This majestic bookcase features a bonnet top with an elaborate crest. Below, two doors with stunning foxed mirror panels with decorative foliate borders enclose two shelves and three small drawers.
The central fall-front section opens to reveal a spacious writing slope as well as a small cupboard, cubby holes and an arrangement of eight small drawers.
The bottom section has a wonderful bombe form with a pronounced hipped contour. The frieze drawer sits above three graduated main drawers, all with very ornate handles and escutcheons.
The hips actually enclose further secret storage, with each offering cupboard space and four small drawers.
The whole is finished with a dipped carved apron and prominent ball and claw feet.
This piece is a monumental feat of craftsmanship. The burr walnut has the most stunning swirling grain and colour throughout.
This bookcase will offer ample hidden storage and a statement piece for today's interior.
