18th Century Dutch Burr Walnut Cabinet
Fine 18th Century Dutch Cabinet of Architectural Form in Finely Figured Burr Walnut.
This finely-proportioned piece is very architectural in style and features an overhanging pediment above a pair of panelled doors, veneered throughout in burr walnut of exceptional colour and figure.
The interior of the cabinet features an array of shelves and concealed shallow drawers, probably for storing shells and fossils and other items popular with collectors during this period.
There is an additional hidden drawer in the lower frieze of the cabinet. The piece stands on plain back legs and truncated teardrop or flattened bun front feet. The mouldings utilised throughout are crisply carved and the choice of timber is excellent.
This is a charming and useful cabinet in which to store your own curiosities of all sorts.
