18th Century English Oak Dresser Base
English 18th Century Oak Dresser Base with Shaped Apron.
This three-drawer dresser base is an elegant example. Raised on cabriole front legs, it incorporates three drawers with their original brass plate handles and shaped escutcheons. The apron on the frieze has been beautifully shaped, the repeating pattern used being of rococo inspiration.
The dresser has a slightly overhanging top, with moulded edge, and the timber used throughout is of excellent quality and fine figure, faded to a desirable mellow colour, and retains a great patination and excellent proportions.
