18th Century French Louis XVI Period Satinwood Commode
Attractive Late 18th Century French Louis XVI Period Satinwood Commode.
It is veneered throughout in satinwood of mellow colour giving it a remarkably contemporary look with its black marble top. The centre bank of drawers are set forward from the sides just fractionally. Each drawer front is finely panelled and mounted with ormolu edging and the sides of the piece are also treated in a similar manner. There is an additional ormolu mount which separates the top drawers from those below. The pilasters having carved fluting and the corner blocks on the top drawer have shaped mouldings. The whole supported on tapering fluted legs with ormolu toupie feet and additional ormolu column mounts at the top.
A practical piece of furniture that is refined and elegant.
