18th Century Serpentine Chest of Drawers
SKU
CC1011623
18th Century mahogany and gonçalo alves banded serpentine chest of drawers.
This beautifully proportioned chest of drawers has four drawers with brass handles.
Gonçalo alves is also known as zebra or tigerwood because of the highly contrasting grain.
The rare, exotic wood came from South America and was used for finer English furniture for a short period of time. It was expensive, costing around 40% more than mahogany.
The glorious rich patina of the timber is a lovely compliment to the elegant serpentine shape of this chest.
Truly classic and timeless piece.
