1950s British Design Wallpaper
Original mid 20th Century British design for wallpaper or textiles. By Ron McNeil.
This lively design is handblocked with images of barometers, weather vanes, and clouds. It has a bright pastel colour palette that was popular around the time of The Festival of Britain in 1951.
The design is presented in a cream hand-painted frame with perspex.
Ron McNeill was a graphic designer, commercial artist and teacher. He was employed for many years by Valentine & Co. of Dundee, the prolific lithographic printers.
McNeill created many iconic images promoting British train travel, sightseeing, seaside holidays, the London underground etc.
Quirky and quintessentially British piece of wall decoration.
