Matégot was a French designer and architect, who studied in Budapest. Whilst he was held captive in Germany during the war, he discovered the material ritigulle which was a fine perforated metal sheeting.
Ritigulle went on to play a central part in Matégot's furniture design, often combined with metal tubing.
The designs he produced in the 1950s were considered radically contemporary at the time, and they still are very stylish and modern.
