19th Century Bavarian Painted Cupboard
19th Century Bavarian cupboard in its original paint.
This cupboard originates from the valley of the river Inn and could have been by the Perthaler family's workshop.
The Perthaler family were well-known for their cupboards, and you can find examples in museums throughout Bavaria and Austria.
The four fields of the door are finely painted. The flowers in the middle of the fields are surrounded by stylised tendrils, which give the impression of inlaid ribbons.
The corners of the cupboard are rounded and provided with finely coloured painted decoration.
This piece retains its original lock, hardware, and key. Lovely visible graining to the wood. Sourced from a Bavarian folk art collection.
