French 19th Century cast stone gargoyle.
This imposing piece of sculptural art would originally have 'guarded' a large home or church; as gargoyles are believed to ward off evil spirits from places of worship.
Gargoyles are usually designed to have a large hole in the front, representing the mouth of the creature, to drain water off of buildings, however, this one does not have this feature. However, post-sale this piece could be easily modified to have a whole to create a stunning water feature.
