19th Century Fine Early Heriz Carpet
19th century fine heriz carpet.
Early Heriz carpets from Northwest Persia are in a class of their own.
Prized for their geometric designs, fine durable construction and creative use of vegetable-dyed colours, they make ideal long-lasting rugs, and have always stood out for their striking tribal motifs.
In our experience, Heriz carpets prove to be among the most versatile decorative weavings, with the ability to unite both modern and traditional design elements in a room.
A classic Heriz carpet with wonderfully high-grade wool. Being an earlier example, dating to c. 1890, this piece has an especially high density of knots in its weave, lending a crisp clarity to its drawing. It features a wide variety of vegetable-dyed colours, including sky blue, various greens, terracotta, ivory and over a muted terracotta field, well-framed by four ivory spandrels and a wide decorative border.
In very good practical condition for everyday use, with a subtle age-related patina.
A timeless example, with a tribal charm and character to suit a variety of interior styles.
