19th Century Fine Heriz Carpet
19th Century Fine Heriz Carpet.
Early Heriz carpets from Northwest Persia are in a class of their own.
Prized for their geometric designs, fine durable construction and creative use of vegetable-dyed colours, they make ideal long-lasting rugs, and have always stood out for their striking tribal motifs.
In our experience, Heriz carpets prove to be among the most versatile decorative weavings, with the ability to unite both modern and traditional design elements in a room.
This example features a muted tan colour in the field and spandrels, a warm terracotta medallion, with ochre, cornflower blue and ivory tones in the drawing, well framed by a wide tan and muted indigo border - a harmonious palette, all in gracefully aged vegetable dyes.
The design employs bold, graphic motifs, lending the work a sense of expressive spontaneity.
Retained in very good condition for everyday use, with a minor age-related patina, adding great charm and character.
Its borders are preserved on all sides, - remarkable for a piece of this age.
A handsome carpet, to add personality and charm to a variety of interior styles.
