19th Century French Ebonised Pedestal Desk
A 19th Century French ebonised desk with central locking mechanism.
This handsome ebonised desk has an inlaid tooled leather writing surface to the top with moulding to the edges and apron. The drawer handles, have recessed centres to the back plates a sign of top quality manufacture and design.
One of the most interesting features of this lovely desk is the locking mechanism, so if the central drawer is locked, it is impossible to open any of the other drawers, hence the need for only one single keyhole.
This is an attractive and functional piece of furniture of the highest quality. The drawers are dovetailed and oak lined.
