19th Century French Mahogany Guéridon
Fine 19th Century French Mahogany Guéridon or Centre Table with Marble Top.
This guéridon is particularly well proportioned, the attractive black and mottled marble top supported upon a slim frieze, baluster shaped central column with reeded detail and tripartite base. The three legs adorned with leaf detail but also particularly well observed and carved animal legs and claws with the musculature also defined.
The quality of this carving is very high indeed and sets this table apart from most other examples. The guéridon stands very well and is clearly the product of a very high quality workshop, the quality of the timber used also being far better than that usually encountered.
The black and grey marble top with its carved edge is original to the table and very attractive.
