19th Century Georgian Carved Mirror
SKU
MI2718190
Beautifully carved and gilt limewood English mid-19th Century mirror.
This mirror was created after the earlier designs of Matthias Lock.
It has a beautiful mercury mirror plate and exceptional carvings throughout. This flamboyant mirror is very much conceived in the mid-18th Century English Rococo manner and was inspired by the designs of Matthias Lock and Thomas Chippendale.
The use of limewood enables the carver to get crisper and more intricate details which enables the mirror, as a whole, to have a wonderfully balanced three-dimensional carved design.
