19th Century James Pulham Terracotta Quatrefoil Fountain Basin
Beautiful and rare 19th Century buff terracotta quatrefoil fountain basin, by James Pulham and Sons of Broxbourne.
This fantastic piece is in a very good condition and is beautifully detailed. It's not stamped, but was featured several times in their catalogue.
James Pulham & Sons were best known for their construction of rock gardens, follies, and grottoes. However, they also manufactured a wide range of terracotta and pulhamite garden ornaments.
In 1895 the firm was granted a Royal Warrant by the Prince of Wales and some of their work can still be seen today at Sandringham and Buckingham Palace.
Pulham & Sons was awarded medals in the Great Exhibition of 1851 and the International Exhibition of 1862. The firm went out of business in 1939.
