19th Century Pollard Oak Occasional Table
Beautiful Mid Victorian Gothic Revival occasional or work table made around c.1850.
This fine table employs a variety of timbers including ash, elm and oak for a wide variety of decorative effects. Standing on a quadripartite base with four scrolling legs in the baroque manner.
The rectangular table top centres on an inlaid diamond on a background of contrasting timber surrounded by two cross banded sections. The frieze of the table has one deep central drawer with a turned wooden handle.
The handle and the decoration employed throughout the frieze is also gothic in inspiration including drops at each corner and applied faceted mouldings. It also has a lovely colour and patination and is the perfect small occasional table for the modern home, capable of adding character to any interior.
