20th Century Tabriz Carpet

  • H: 314 cm (123 5/8")
  • W: 268 cm (105 1/2")

A charming early 20th Century Tabriz carpet with a creative drawing.

Each design in the central field is tastefully repeated in different patterns with an array of naturally dyed colours. This Tabriz is framed by a wide border of great proportion. In very good practical condition for everyday use, still retaining its original outer borders and fringes on both sides.

The city of Tabriz in northwest Persia has a long heritage of rug weaving since the 14th Century. As heir to such a long tradition, no other rug-producing region in Persia can claim such a wide variety of designers and pattern types.

A timeless classic which is rare in this squarish format.
