20th century mahogany armchair by French designer André Sornay. 

Sornay created furniture with resolutely modern lines.

Influenced by Bauhaus and the Stijl movements he belongs to a group of architects, artists and decorators wishing to design new forms, perfectly suited to modern life. 

He was part of the Union des Artistes Modernes ( an association of modern artists) along with Pierre Chareau, Francis Jourdain, LE CORBUSIER and Charlotte Perriand.
