20th Century English Folk Art Waterloo Clock
A wonderful early 20th Century English scratch built wooden clock.
This rather eccentric clock, which obviously has taken hundreds of man hours to construct, has astonishing attention to detail.
The clock comprises of two majestic roaring lions at the base, in the middle is Britannia and flanked each side is a vision of the battle of Waterloo with the French army on one-side and the English on the other. At the top of the clock are two flags one dated 1815 and the other 1915 with the word “Peace” inside a love hart with a crown above.
The clock is entirely made from wood which has been painted and gilded with a red silk panel on the back. The clock has been converted to a modern battery mechanism and is in good working order.
Circa 1920.
