20th Century Persian Baktiar Rug

Antique Baktiar carpets from West Persia have one of the most intriguing and distinct styles of any antique Persian rug, boasting a fascinating historical heritage and character. 

They are one of the few types of Persian rugs that encompass both nomadic tribal and antique rug designs and are notable for their high wool quality and rich colours. This early Baktiar rug has a creative drawing in which the design in the central field is cleverly repeated in a different shape and colour scheme, framed by several borders. 

The blue-grey background provides great contrast to the variety of colour combinations in its crisp drawing, a result of its fine weave. The colours in the hand-spun wool are all natural vegetable dyed. It is in very good condition. 

This early 20th century Baktiar rug is in very good to excellent condition, still retaining its original outer borders and fringes on both sides. 

A unique and charming tribal weaving which would complement both contemporary and classic spaces.
