19th Century Regency Gilt Convex Mirror
SKU
MI0628993
19th Century Regency gilt convex mirror.
This mirror is of typical convex form but retains much of the original gilding and a charming worn surface.
The outer molding is carved with flowers or fruit in the center of each “side” and this is probably meant to symbolise cornucopias or horns of plenty, symbols of good luck and prosperity for the owners of the piece.
The inner slip on the mirror is ebonised providing an interesting contrast with the burnished gilding.
