20th Century Mahal Carpet
A handsome Mahal carpet with an uncommon ivory field that compliments the artistic drawing and the variety of vegetable-dyed colours.
This piece is associated with a group of carpets commissioned in west Persia during the Late 19th-Early 20th Centuries to compliment western furnishing tastes.
Appreciated for their unique grand scale proportions, quiet formality and soft colours they are often seen gracing grand houses in Europe and the UK yet are versatile enough to complement contemporary settings.
In very good practical condition for everyday use, still retaining its original fringes and selvedges on all sides.
An interesting example with a pleasant variety of colours.
