20th Century Savonnerie Carpet

A stylish Savonnerie carpet finely handwoven within the last quarter of the 20th Century.

This particular example has a rare overall design derived from earlier French Savonnerie examples of the 18th Century. The muted, black field is a great backdrop to the overall artistic design and the array of vegetable-dyed colours framed by an ivory border.

This Savonnerie carpet is in excellent condition. A sophisticated example that is unusual in this smaller format.

Please note the length of wood pictured at the top of this carpet is due to having to hang the carpet for photography.
