19th Century Heriz Carpet
Early Heriz carpets from north-west Persia are in a class of their own.
Prized for their artistic geometrical designs, fine durable construction and wonderful vegetable-dyed colours, they have always stood out for their aesthetically appealing designs making ideal decorative rugs.
A striking 1900’s Heriz carpet with an unusual and spontaneous drawing.
This is a departure from the traditional central medallion motif, usually found in earlier examples from the mid-19th Century.
The attractive terracotta field provides a great backdrop to the array of vegetable-dyed colours and it is framed by a wide border.
This antique Heriz carpet is in good practical condition with a slight age-related patina which adds great charm to the harmonious array of natural-dyed colours.
All of the outer borders and fringes are still present on all sides.
A stylish example that will compliment a tasteful setting.
