Early 19th Century French Carved Mirror
Exquisite early 19th Century French mirror.
This mirror has a smart rectilinear form which is beautifully adorned with extensive foliate decoration.
The main frame is decorated with intricately carved winding leaves, whilst the corners and crest feature more elaborate pierced scrolls, plumes and foliate details.
The gilding has a wonderful burnished patina, with glimpses of red bole showing through in parts.
A small mirror plate sits below the crest and above the main frame. This section of original glass is heavily foxed with age, with a wonderful opaque and textured look.
The main glass plate is later, with just a couple of minimal blemishes. The combination of old and new glass makes this mirror both usable and very decorative.
This mirror has immense decorative presence and will be a stunning addition to any home.
