G. J. Lines Nursery Rocking Horse
Wonderful 19th Century nursery rocking horse by G. J. Lines.
This charming horse features a wonderfully detailed head, with a dished face and flared nostrils.
He retains his original saddle and leather strapping to the bridle, as well as the martingale and metal rosettes. Mounted on a wooden base.
Exhibiting original dappled body paint and shellac decoration. This horse is in a good condition, with wear commensurate with age and a well-loved life.
The Lines family produced high quality rocking horses for almost a century, including many novel designs. George and Joseph Lines worked together from circa 1876 to develop G & J Lines. The company became one of the largest toy-makers in Britain.
This horse will bring a lovely whimsical accent to any interior and would make for a very special gift.
