Large 18th Century Portrait of a Seamstress
SKU
WD1528771
Beautiful 18th Century portrait of an Arlesian seamstress at her embroidery desk.
On her worktable sits a basket of yarns, her needle case, and, what appears to be, a number of coins, perhaps payment for her work. She sits outside with a country vista as her view. Wearing a lace bonnet, pearl earrings, and traditional costume of the period, she sits serenely at her sewing, needle, and thread in hand.
Oil on canvas. Framed in a gilt wood frame of the period.
Relined at some point.
