Early 20th Century Tabriz Carpet
Early 20th Century Tabriz carpet.
The city of Tabriz in the North West region of Persia has been a major centre of rug weaving since the 14th Century and as heir to such a long tradition, no other rug-producing region in Persia can claim such a wide array of designs or pattern types.
This subtle early 20th Century Tabriz carpet has a simple monochrome drawing, framed with an artistic border of great proportions. The muted pinky, colour field has aged nicely and compliments variety of harmonious colours.
This Tabriz rug has a remarkable quality which explains the clarity of its crisp drawing. In very good to excellent condition, still retaining its original fringes and plain borders on all sides.
An elegant rug that would make a great addition to a variety of interior styles.
