Contemporary Hand Woven Oushak Carpet
A beautiful Oushak carpet hand woven in Iran with lustrous wool and vegetable dyed colours.
The ivory field is a great backdrop to the well-spaced drawing of an array of vegetable-dyed colours which is framed by a wide, grey border.
Antique Oushak carpets of West Anatolia have had a rich history since the beginning of the 16th Century. During the 19th Century, the Oushak region became an important centre of furnishing carpets tailored specifically for the Western market. These decorative pieces are generally found in historic homes in Europe and the UK and are highly sought after for their large-scale drawings, decorative appeal and use of softer colour palettes.
A highly decorative example with the versatility to complement a variety of interior styles.
