Early 20th Century Signed Kashan Carpet
Early Kashan carpets rank as one of the finest of all Persian weavings.
This elegant Kashan carpet is signed by the highly influential master weaver, Isfahanian, who created high-end carpets with creative drawings and delicate colours. This sophisticated example has simple design characteristics of earlier weavings of the 17th century.
The clarity of the drawing is attributed to the remarkable quality of the craftsmanship.
The harmonious naturally-dyed colours of ivory, grey, and caramel with an accent of bronze are exquisite. Another interesting feature is the uniformity of the colour of the central field and main border as opposed to the contrast of colour that is often seen in this type of weaving.
This fine Kashan carpet is in very good to excellent condition, still retaining its original fringes and outer borders on all sides.
A timeless beauty with a discreet elegance to compliment a variety of settings which is rare in this large format.
