Fine Early 20th Century Qum Carpet
Highly decorative Qum carpet illustrates the best of both worlds - the fineness of early workshop weavings and the creative design characteristics of tribal Caucasian Zeyhour rugs of the 19th Century.
All the colours are vegetable dyed which have aged nicely.
Rug weaving in the city of Qum only started at the beginning of the 20th century and the city quickly established itself as a centre for exceptional fine weavings. Qum is known for its unique decorative carpets with classically precise drawings and luxurious wool, often merino, setting it apart from other Persian weaving centres.
In excellent condition, still retaining its original plain borders on all four sides and original fringes at both ends.
A timeless rug to complement a wide variety of settings.
