Mid 20th Century Baktiar Carpet
Baktiar carpets, woven in Northwest Persia, are well known as among the most distinct, and thus highly sought after.
Persian weavings, thanks to their unique combination of the playful, geometric designs of nomadic and tribal rugs, and the grand scale and high quality craftsmanship one would expect of a Persian workshop piece.
This fine mid-century Baktiar carpet features a bold, large format graphic drawing, rather than the traditional intricate central medallion layout, in well aged tones of terracotta, ivory and cornflower blue, with motifs borrowed from earlier pieces of the 19th Century, framed by a border of impressive proportion.
A handsome carpet, retained in very good condition for everyday use, with the versatility to compliment either a classic or contemporary interior.
