Mid 20th Century Signed Kashan Carpet
Mid 20th Century Kashan carpets rank as one of the finest of all Persian weavings.
This elegant Kashan bears the signature of a well-known Master Weaver workshop that created high-end rugs of its generation. This sophisticated example has subtle vegetable-dyed colours with a simple pattern in comparison to other examples of its era.
Dating to the 1940s, this piece has a pleasant influence of the Mid-Century Modern design ethos, bridging classical motifs with the sensibilities of its era; the mark of a truly talented artist.
The city of Kashan was the center of fine rug creation during the 16th-century Safavid period and some of the best classical pieces are attributed to it. The high category of superior quality pieces was woven at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries.
This fine Kashan carpet is in very good to excellent condition for everyday use.
It has still retained its original outer borders on all sides.
