Contemporary Handwoven Oushak Carpet
Beautiful Oushak carpet, hand woven in Iran with lustrous wool and vegetable-dyed colours.
A modern interpretation of 19th Century Oushak carpets with a large-scale drawing and a harmonious variety of fresh colours.
Antique Oushak carpets of West Anatolia have a rich history from the beginning of the 16th Century. During the 19th Century, the Oushak region became an important centre of furnishing carpets tailored specifically for the Western market.
The light sky blue/pale grey hue of the central field gives great depth and richness to the simple drawing and the harmonious colours. The central field is framed by a wide, light green border.
These decorative pieces are largely found in historic homes in Europe and the UK. They are highly sought after for their large-scale drawings, decorative appeal and softer colour palettes.
A stylish example to complement a tasteful interior.
