Charming Early 20th Century Heriz carpet.
Originally from northwest Persia, this rug is in a class of its own. Prized for their artistic geometrical designs, fine durable construction and wonderful vegetable dyed colours, they have always stood out for their aesthetically appealing designs and make ideal decorative rugs.
This 19th century Heriz carpet has a simple naive drawing and a harmonious vegetable-dyed colour composition that has aged nicely. The muted tan colour field and light-blue colour spandrels on four sides are exquisite and it has retained all its original borders and fringes at both ends.
A charming early rug in a rare squarish format to complement a wide variety of settings.
