Ebonised Writing Desk
Ebonised writing desk.
Of French origin and dating from the Early 20th Century, Circa 1930's, this ebonised mahogany writing desk has a leather inset top with two drawers to each side. The drawers flank the central kneehole below with a long drawer above, with pull-out slides to either side. The whole is supported on circular tapered legs surmounted by brass collars and terminating in brass sabots, with original brass mounts throughout.
With its circular tapered legs and emphasis on straight lines, this desk is very much in the Louis XVI taste.
With its classical simplicity, it would make a very elegant addition to any reception room, be it a study or drawing-room, and would blend in with other pieces of different periods and styles very easily.
