George II Mahogany Country House Linen Press
Wonderful, untouched George II mahogany linen press. Circa 1750.
This traditional country house piece features an incredible blind-fret frieze cornice and Greek key mouldings. Two panelled doors with beautiful contrasting sit over two short drawers and two long ones.
In remarkably untouched condition, this cupboard comes from the 17th Century Penrose House in Cornwall.
It needs a bit of sympathetic restoration to missing Greek key and dentil mouldings. The drawers retain four of their original ormolu rococo handles.
It is beautifully faded and in typical country house condition, but is nonetheless a wonderful example. Practical yet stunning, this linen press represents the best of Georgian furniture.
