Heal's Modernist Oak Pedestal Desk
Large free-standing oak pedestal desk, by Heal's. Circa 1930.
This desk has fantastic proportions and form. The modernist movement was intended to offer accessible and functional furniture that celebrated the beauty of new materials and simple forms.
This desk has a spacious surface. Two short drawers flank one long one across the top, whilst each pedestal offers a further three graduated drawers all with chrome bar handles.
It has signs of wear and modest repairs but they don't detract from the overall appeal of the piece.
This practical and aesthetic desk is perfect for the home office and will blend in easily with other furnishings.
Heal's were a prolific furniture company in the 20th Century, seizing the new trend for useful and affordable furniture and running with it- to great success.
Their furniture has timeless and classic appeal; their pieces look equally at home in today's interiors as they did when they were first manufactured.
