Large Italian Carved Wood Portico

Large-scale early 20th Century Italian carved wood portico. 

This ornate door frame originates from a Sicilian villa. It is immensely decorative and designed in the rococo taste. 

The carved cornice sits over a central crest featuring a cornucopia and a prominent shell. Trailing flowers sit on either side. 

The rest of the latticed framework is adorned with rosettes and foliate decoration. 

In good condition with minimal areas of age-related wear and small splashes of old white paint. 

This is a wonderful architectural piece that will transform any entrance.
