Monumental copper globe lantern.

A large and wonderful globe lantern constructed from original 19th Century components. The architectural copper finials, which form the top and bottom of the lantern, are original elements from a 19th Century pavilion.

The finials dictated the style and proportions of this magnificent piece which antique dealers Matthew Cox realised with his brother, sculptor Christopher Cox of Cox London.

The decorative copper leaves, salvaged from a roof in York, were applied to a robust steel framework clad in 19th Century copper sheeting.

The construction of the showstopping lantern was a masterclass in restoration and lantern construction, and the resulting piece, with its beautiful, original surface and patinas, makes an elegant yet dramatic statement in a lobby or entrance hall and is a one-off collaboration between the two brothers.

This sculptural lantern is lit by a magnificent sixteen-branch brass chandelier to light and is wired and ready to hang.

Installation of the lantern is straightforward, provided there is ample access, as the lantern must be installed as one piece.
