Pair of 20th Century French Absinthe Glasses and Spoons
Pair of early 20th Century absinthe glasses and spoons marked "La Cressonnee" which a famous absinthe claimed to be made from watercress.
These glasses were often used throughout the day for a myriad of concoctions from early morning coffee hence the thick glass bases - to wine and later in the evening perhaps absinthe.
Known as 'the green fairy,' this notorious, green anise-flavoured spirit is very much associated with the hedonism of La Belle Èpoque in Paris.
This attractive pair come with absinthe spoons, which were slotted to dissolve a sugar cube in a glass of absinthe in order to sweeten the drink and counteract its bitterness.
