Swedish 19th Century Mora Clock
Swedish 19th Century mora clock in its original faded blue paint.
This clock has a classic banjo shape, with a simplistic but charming bonnet top and circular face.
When re-set, this clock will chime on the hour because of its working mechanism and partly restored weights.
Mora clocks have a wonderful history as well as a gorgeous look.
The residents of Mora were among those who fled to Stockholm during extreme droughts in the 18th Century. In the city, they learned new skills and trades including clock-making.
Upon their return to a drought-free Mora, a local industry emerged crafting these clocks. Different families would be responsible for one stage of the process - the mechanism, the woodwork, or the painting for example.
This Swedish mora clock will make for a lovely feature in any home, due to its unobtrusive and serene presence.
