An American 20th Century Prohibition era, tall chromium cocktail shaker.
In a classic ‘coffee pot’ shape with stepped base and top, and wood handle, lid finial and twist-off pouring stopper. Makers mark stamped "Manning-Bowman Meriden, Conn", Patent number 97979.
This unusual piece of antique barware was crafted when Prohibition was declared in USA. When it became illegal to buy, sell or drink alcohol (from 1920-1933), which resulted in an explosion of ‘home use’ cocktail making.
