Arts & Crafts Cotswold School Oak Refectory Table

  • H: 80 cm (31 1/2")
  • W: 243 cm (95 11/16")
  • D: 91 cm (35 13/16")

Fantastic Arts & Crafts English oak refectory dining table, attributed to Gordon Russell. Mid 20th Century.

This is a lovely piece of furniture and exhibits the finest craftsmanship. The scrub top contrasts strikingly with the base, which features attractive stop-chamfered details.

It would comfortably seat 8-10 people and is the perfect dining table for a range of interiors.

Gordon Russell (1892-1980) was an English designer, craftsman and educationalist. He was schooled in the Arts & Crafts tradition of the Cotswolds, and believed that good design could have a profound impact on people's lives.

As with all designers in this movement, he stressed the importance of craftsmanship in an age of mass production.
