19th Century Bleached Mahogany Commode

19th Century French bleached mahogany commode dating to the Louis Phillipe period. 


The wonderful bleached finish gives this commode an unusually relaxed feel, making for a lovely contrast with the grey fossil marble top. 


The timber itself has wonderful graining that almost disguises the three drawers.

Resting on a plinth base. 


Furniture of the Louis Philippe period was the first to serve the bourgeoisie rather than royalty. 


Designers aimed to provide this busy class with comfort and practical living, whilst reflecting their social legitimacy with refined and stylish furniture.


This is a lovely commode that will make for a brilliant feature in a living room or bedroom.
