Beautiful early 20th Century terracotta sundial by Compton Pottery.
Illustrated in the 'Potters Art Guild Price List Of Pots And Sundials, 1st May 1909' as the Cobra Sundial. This is in excellent condition, with its original plate and unusually its original stepped base, the motto to the top reads ' ABIIT NOX VENIET NOX UTERE DIE' which translates to 'GONE NIGHT COME NIGHT USE THE DAY'.
