Contemporary Needlepoint Carpet of 18th Century Design

  • H: 412 cm (162 3/16")
  • W: 300 cm (118 1/8")

English needlepoint carpets have been produced since the 16th Century, but experienced a real renaissance during the 18th and 19th Centuries, incorporating a vast array of new colours and styles – this handwoven contemporary example represents a high-grade reproduction of the needlepoint carpets of the Georgian era, drawing from the iconic works of famed Neoclassical architect and designer, Robert Adam.

The design employs an all-over composition, with delicate rose motifs framed by ivory medallions, stamped across a sage and olive green field - an understated, well balanced colour palette.

A sophisticated piece, in a rare large format, so suit a wide variety of interiors.
